UPPER LATERAL INCISOR
- chronology
- Start of calcification 3-4 months
- End of coronary calcification: 4-5 years
- Age of eruption: 8-9 years
- End of apical calcification: 11 years
3. description:
- Vestibular face:
- The crown:
- The outline is characterized by roundness,
the appearance is slender.
- The free edge is rounded, its inclination
in the distal direction is marked.
- The mesial angle is a rounded right angle while
the distal is strongly rounded.
- The mesial contour is less convex
than the distal contour.
- The vestibular cervical contour is more
ogival than that of the central incisor
- The maximum mesial convexity is located in the incisal 1/3. The maximum distal convexity is located at the junction of the incisal 1/3 and the medial 1/3.
- Two depressions delimit three lobes, the distal lobe is the most important and seems to stand out from the rest of the face.
- The root:
- it is conical
- It is long and narrow in the mesio-distal direction.
- The apical end is inclined to the distal side
- Palatal face:
a. The crown:
- Appearance identical to the central incisor,
- The oral structures are more accentuated; the palatine fossa is deeper.
- The cingulum usually has only one lobe.
- Very marked furrows separate the palatine structures. Pits occupy
sometimes the bottom of the cingulate fossae.
- Mesial face:
- The crown
- Same appearance as the central incisor,
- the cingulate contour is more pronounced,
- The incisal edge is rounded and has a palatal inclination.
- The entire mesial surface is convex. It tends to become flat in the cervical region.
- The proximal mesial contact area is larger than the central incisor, closer to the junction of the incisal 1/3 and the medial 1/3.
- The root:
- The vestibulolingual diameter is larger than the diameter
mesio-distal.
- A shallow longitudinal depression marks the mesial face
root
- Distal face : it is identical to the mesial view. The neck is less marked than on the mesial face .
- Occlusal face:
- Coronal contour is ovoid and smaller than that of the central incisor.
- The vestibular contour is clearly rounded.
- The mesial contour is longer than the distal contour.
- The incisal edge has two portions, the distal of which slopes in a palatal direction.
- The cingulum is strongly convex and offset to the distal side.
UPPER LATERAL INCISOR
Early cavities in children need to be treated promptly.
Dental veneers cover imperfections such as stains or cracks.
Misaligned teeth can cause difficulty chewing.
Dental implants provide a stable solution to replace missing teeth.
Antiseptic mouthwashes reduce bacteria that cause bad breath.
Decayed baby teeth can affect the health of permanent teeth.
A soft-bristled toothbrush preserves enamel and gums.
