II. A. Trepanation, opening The caries communicates with the outside by a narrow opening , it must be widened to facilitate the operating times necessary for the reconstruction and this: • using a fine round bur in tangsten carbide mounted on a turbine , • if the opening is wide enough, we proceed directly to the extension of the cavity using a fine cylindrical bur in tangsten carbide or diamond mounted on a turbine , we thus eliminate the overhanging enamel not supported by hard dentine. II. B. Dentin curettage This involves ridding the dental cavity of all the altered (= pathological ) dentin tissue . It is carried out using a round bur mounted on a contra-angle and the excavator, – The size of the instruments used varies according to the size of the cavity – The cavity is then cleaned and dried | |
