PERIODONTAL INDICATIONS

It is a number used to highlight the existence of a characteristic or to quantitatively express the value of the characteristic.

  1. SILNESS PLATE INDEX AND LOE

0: no plate

1: Plaque is only visible by scraping the coronal surface with a probe

2: the plaque is visible to the naked eye

3: very abundant soft deposits

  1. GINGIVAL INDEX (gingival index) of loe and silness

0: healthy gums, no inflammation

1: mild inflammation, slight change in color and shape, slight edema, no bleeding on probing

2: moderate inflammation, redness and edema with bleeding on probing

3: severe inflammation, redness and marked edema with tendency to spontaneous bleeding and ulceration

  1. MUHLEMANN AND SON SULCULAR BLEEDING INDEX ( SBI)

0: no inflammation, no bleeding at the probe

1: slight color change, slight bleeding on probing

2: redness without change in shape or edema, bleeding at the probe

3: redness, slight increase in volume due to edema, and bleeding at the probe

4: redness and marked edema with bleeding at the probe

5: redness and significant edema, spontaneous bleeding, with or without ulceration and suppuration

  1. MUHLLMAN PAPILLA BLEEDING INDEX ( PBI )

  1. GLICKMAN CLASSIFICATION

CLASS 1: early lesion with involvement of the periodontal ligament without clinical or radiological evidence

Class 2: partial lesion, the bone is destroyed on one or more faces of the furcation but part of the bone and periodontal ligament is intact which allows partial passage of the probe

CLASS 3: total lesion, the furcation may be obstructed by the gingiva but the bone has been destroyed to a degree significant enough to allow complete passage of a probe

CLASS 4: pronounced total lesion, the bone has been destroyed to such a degree that the furcation is open and easily allows the passage of a probe
